New Music! 二人 (Futari)

I can't help it! I have to spill this! I must!

Folks, I've been working on this relentlessly for weeks and I think it's about time I shared it with you.

This is the main theme from the upcoming Short Songs For Patrons Project (working title: Clockmaker). There's a full string section, piano, winds, harp and a woodblock (tick tock)!

I don't think I've ever worked so long on something so relatively simple, but I really wanted to knock this one out of the park. The piano theme, alone, took me forever, scrutinizing every choice, trying to choose just the right melody, chord progression, harmonies, balance, etc. to make it simple enough to be memorable but complex enough to be interesting. Then came the meticulous process of mixing and EQ... Full disclosure: the final version may have been tinkered with even further, but damn it! I just want you to hear it.

Put this on something loud, sit back and imagine a world where our two main characters have to set things right. Will they do it before time loses all meaning?

Fun fact: 二人 or futari means "two people" in Japanese.
