MIDI tracks in Ableton Live

Hi all,

Hope things are going well out there in internetland!

Here are some things that have been on my mind lately...

Music Stuff

Slowly, but surely, Clockmaker, pt. II is coming together. This project has been my Everest. I'm sorry it's been taking so long. It's a lot of work and I've got a lot on the go in life right now.

Frankly, I'd planned to be done the entire project by now. It's little embarassing to be this behind.

But I haven't given up! Particularly with winter suddenly here, all I want to do is stay home and work on this.

Web Stuff

As you may know, after I release music to you, I post most things (unless they're patron-only treats) publicly on bandcamp.com. It's been an excellent medium to share and find new music over the years, but something happened recently that is really making me reconsider how I release music. Yeah, sure, it's on Spotify and all the things, but it's different.

Anyway, the long-and-short here is that I'm working on a homemade solution. It's yet another thing that takes a lot of work and takes away from actually making music - which I don't like - but I feel is necessary to retain autonomy in how my music is handled by big, dumb corporations who genuinely don't care about music or musicians.

In the end, my hope is that my music will continue to be in all the usual places where people get their music (bandcamp, Spotify, etc.), but the actual definitive source should always be myself (shortsongs.ca).

No More Discord

This is barely worth mentioning, since almost no one was using it (thanks for helping me test it out, Derek), but I got rid of Discord entirely. So, if you were hoping to reach me over there at some point, sorry. I didn't just disconnect it from Patreon. I deleted my account. It wasn't really adding value to my Patreon or my life. That said, I'm quite active in the Fediverse / on Mastodon these days. HMU.

Thanks for being cool and for supporting my creative endeavours. It's not always glamorous, but it's always worth it, knowing you're out there. :)

Chris
