Storytime, Creativity, Montreal
Hi everyone,
Hope you're all doing well out there.
Storytime
I've been madly writing this short story for Short Songs For Patrons IV at basically every spare moment I can find (including airplanes, while not paying attention to TV, in the middle of the night, etc.). It's going pretty well, I think, but it's a long process. I'm clearly not a pro author. I don't want to spoil anything too badly, but then again, if you've been to our Creativity Sessions, you're getting the real behind-the-scenes treatment. 😉
The story follows a girl's adventures in time. She has a mad scientist / horologist uncle, her mother was tragically killed in a mysterious accident, and something catastrophic happens to them all. She will have to go back to where it all began, but can she set things right?
It's a lot of fun! Which leads me to...
Short Songs For Patrons Creativity Sessions
Each Sunday, patrons join me for Creativity Sessions, where we brainstorm ideas for this short story. It's been great, actually. We've come up with a few great ideas already that I wouldn't likely have landed on, on my own. Thanks team!
If you haven't been to one yet, come on out. They happen each Sunday (except this Sunday, because I'm out of town) at 7:00 PM CST.
Montreal
This doesn't have much to do with what I'm up to, creatively. I'm here to visit folks and go to Jazz Fest. Montreal just stirs my creative soul! I love the pace and arty vibe here. Maybe I'll go look for Leonard Cohen's house or some of Arcade Fire's old haunts. I'm currently in the neighbourhood where Murray Lightburn of The Dears grew up. Yeah. I like it here.
That's about it for now. Stay tuned to Lens for little behind-the-scenes updates and maybe some fun Montreal moments (or maybe I'll just keep those on Instagram).
Be well out there and keep listening to interesting music.
