Short Songs For Patrons IV Creativity Session 1
We had the first ever Creativity Sesh last Sunday. It worked quite nicely, I have to say! And it gave me an excuse to dedicate some time to work on this. I've been developing the idea for a while now, but this was the first time I'd actually started to write a draft.
This is going to be such a huge project. As usual, I'm in way over my head, but whatever, it's fun and I think the result is going to be very exciting!
Join us this coming Sunday, if you can. I'll be posting the link here on Patreon, so stay tuned.
Soundtracks
I haven't written a single note for SSFPIV yet. I'm still focusing on story/character development for now. In the meantime, Even though I listen to a lot of styles, I've been listening to some of my favourite soundtracks and atmospheric music. Not sure if I want to go the thematic route (think: John Williams / everyone gets their own motif), or something more ambient, or something else altogether. I suspect the music will come to life on its own as the story gets written.
Budget Marketing
I guess all marketing is "budget" (read: cheap) marketing for me. Because I've been releasing something publicly once to twice a year, I'm kind of always in a state of promotion: here's the next big thing, but also, don't forget that last thing. I'm hardly a marketing expert, so I just kinda slap stuff together that I can afford. My latest thing: cryptic little cards containing artwork, a snippet from the Patron Quest story, and a qr code.
The plan is to pass them around as a promotional thing this summer at Montreal Jazz Fest, Regina Folk Fest, etc.

That's what's cooking for now. Hope to see you at the next Creativity Sesh!
