Invisible Work, 20-Year Old Project, Side Quest, SSFPIV, Community Radio

Hi all,

Hope you're doing well out there and welcome to newest patron, Jess! 🎉🎉🎉

Another busy month around here, mostly on the planning/business side of things

Patron Quest:

As you likely know, Patron Quest: The Search For The Mystic Fountain released publicly on March 11, so I'm spending a lot of time on that - promo stuff, marketing, community radio outreach, social media plan, etc. There's a ton of sort of "invisible" work that goes into a release, so that's been where a lot of my energy has been going.

My earliest pseudononymous project turns 20 years old in 2023!!! Crazy! I started relistening to some of that old stuff and became really nostalgic for a time in my 20s, in Edmonton, when I had no real life plans or goals and was thrilled just to have my weir, experimental electronic music played in a local cafe or by a local DJ to a crowd of 10. Ah! The life! Anyway, the wheels started turning and I thought it would be nice to revisit that project and release something next year. I might re-record the entire first album, maybe compile some tracks from all 10 albums... not sure yet, but it'll be something. I'm really looking forward to digging into this!

Side Quest:

I'm working on spinoff tunes from Patron Quest, releasing 2-3 per month, first to Bowerbird+ patrons, then to all patrons, and eventually to the world - maybe as a set of EPs or something. These short tracks are just some additional fun, filling in some of the storyline and continuing in that chiptune style.

Big, cryptic thing coming! (hint: it's SSFPIV):

I've started to map out what the next Short Songs For Patrons project looks like. We're doing things a little differently again, and I'm really excited about it! I don't want to spill the beans just yet, but know that this is going to be the most ambitious edition yet and there are even more goodies for patrons! There's so much to do before I even officially announce it to you. Haha!

Regina Community Radio talk:

I've been a volunteer host on CJTR, Regina Community Radio for around 14 years. They happen to be celebrating their 20th year on the air, this year, and as part of a month-long celebration, I was invited to participate in a talk entitled "Performing with Sound", where I and a couple other hosts got to talk about our experience as performers, ourselves and how that ties into the radio experience. It was basically just an hour of us talking about how much we love community radio! Haha!

Whew! I think that's it for this month.

Reach out any time, I respond to every message.

Be well and keep listening to interesting music!

Chris
