September Update: We Got A Dog And I Took A Voice Lesson From Jane Monheit
As always, thank you so much for being a patron. It's a really big deal for me that you are supporting my arty insanity! I appreciate it very much.
I don't always get as much time to work on music as I'd like. This month has been a little busier than usual, leaving little time - usually in the wee hours - to get stuff done. I also started a new, more demanding day job, and this monster...
Don't let that grin fool you. We are up at 5:30 for walks every morning, and in bed, exhausted, by 10:00 every night.
Alright, enough excuses. I did manage to get a couple songs out for you guys. If you haven't heard them yet, king of canada, pt 2 (cloudy, with occasional rain) and Not There (from the Lu soundtrack) are available to patrons, and I posted a sheet music video for a saxophone quartet I wrote. I think I'm going to round up some of the old gang and record that one!
I also took my first ever voice lesson - from incredible pro jazz singer Jane Monheit! :D
I wanted to take voice lessons basically to step up my vocal game, but more specifically, there is some trickier vocal stuff I would like to take on with this ongoing Electricloud Recordings project, such as a men's choir.
The lesson was super fun and really neat. I hope to sneak a couple more in there, strengthen voice, just get better, and then, you know, be an entire choir... myself. Sounds doable, right?
Aside from that, I'm still poking around at various things I can't seem to get done. Hopefully October gives me a little more time to concentrate.
Oh yeah, and heads-up: I'm trying to rig together something fun for patrons before the end of the year. Don't want to spoil it, but once I nail down a date and some specifics, I'll start posting tons of reminders. :)
Stay tuned. The end of the year always ramps up just enough to keep things interesting.
