Green & Blue: Bonus Material!

A screenshot of Ableton Live

Hey there Concertmasters and Brass Section!

Something a little different for you today: I've been re-listening to Green & Blue a bunch and can't help but pick apart all the pieces - especially the bits that went wrong (can't help it). Then it occurred to me: maybe you'd like to hear some of the bits.

There are basically 5 instruments, plus my voice that went into this tune, but I worked on making each instrument unique. For example, the "keys" instrument is actually comprised of 9 different keyboard sounds, including a prepared piano and a Wurlitzer-like soft synth, while the "bass" instrument is actually three different soft synth sounds. For each of these composite instruments, I set in some MIDI notation, copied it, and mixed like crazy until all the little bits sounded natural enough to be one cohesive instrument sound.

In the attachments to this post, I've included each instrument part as well as my voice (sorry). Just for fun, I've also included the original score and all parts, which were written for voice/bass clarinet, euphonium, piano, bass guitar, and marimba.

Listen to your heart's content, download, remix, destroy, have fun.

Ps. If you make anything with this, let me know. I want to hear it!

Note: the original files for this post are too big to attach. If you want them, send me an email. The address is on the home page. :)
