New Music: Green & Blue

Here's another re-imagined oldie for you. Green & Blue was the first tune I worked on for The Scarletts, back around 10 years ago now. It's the one that most closely represented the sound I was going for then and it still holds a warm spot somewhere in my icy heart.

This version was fun and challenging to make. I'm still not sure it turned out exactly the way I wanted, but I feel like if I tweak it anymore, I might just give up recording forever and take up painting (I like making fun sounds - not necessarily perfecting them). That said, it's not a total abomination, so there's that.

I hope you like this one. It's got some fun melodies and counterpoint stuff going on. It plays with the 3-vs-4 feel a fair bit, some things are quantized perfectly into time, some are sloppily plunked in, there's a lot of synthesis going on, and a bit of acoustic stuff.

It's kind of a love song maybe?

I'll post the lyrics below. Enjoy.

Light separates the night from the lonely day where we will call to each other
We wait, awake, uncomfortable, dishonest and fake
Soon we'll start to recognize the faces of the ordinary people who can save us
Kiss while the world is sleeping
We'll dream together.
And while the sun lights everyone,
We'll find ourselves within love.
