New Music: We Will Forget This Day
This one's been bouncing around in the idea phase for a while now - 2017 is when I first wrote any of it down, actually.
I'd originally written it for two clarinets, bass clarinet, upright piano + voice and had set out to record just that, but something called me to analog synths. I kind of love the way things drift in-and-out-of-tune here. I still hammered in some piano to keep it from been all the way too heartless and machine-like, even though it's just big, heavy arpeggios/chords.
My voice is a lot more prominent on this than usual. I'm pretty self-conscious about singing. I've always had good pitch, but let's just say I've never been in great danger of being hired as a vocalist, so I tend to bury vocals in the mix. Trying something different here. Too much? I don't know. Maybe.
Either way, I do like the way this one turned out. I can see it getting a normal release one day... maybe. Or maybe it'll just be for patrons forever. ;)
